| Description | The captain's ready room doubles as an office and a second private cabin in addition to the commanding officer's private quarters. It is located off the port side of the main bridge on Deck 1, and provides a place where the captain can work or rest while remaining next to the bridge in case of an emergency. This is an ideal space for the captain to review status reports, hold one-on-one or small meetings with members of the engineering staff, and to receive private communications. Upon entering the room from the bridge, one immediately finds themselves facing a sturdy-looking desk with two chairs for accommodating visitors. The captain's desk is equipped with an advanced LCARS terminal which enables access to the station's main computer. Several PADDs providing access to all relevant data can sometimes be found scattered around the desk. Operating at the furthest reaches of Federation space, the captain's ready room still has much in common with those of other starships or installations. The rear wall feaetures a large computer interface located behind the desk which may be used to access the ship's main computers, display up-to-date information, or communicate with colleagues. When not in use, this display can be hidden away behind a holographic projection tailored to the captain's particular aesthetics. To the left of this interface is a replicator often used to provide refreshment for the captain and any guests. A single couch bisected by a small coffee table runs along the outer bulkhead beneath a long, horizontal viewport. This provides the captain with a means of accomodating additional visitors or taking a brief moment for themselves whenever the situation will not allow them to stray far from the bridge. A small shelving unit runs along the opposite bulkhead to provide space for displaying a modest collection of personal belongings. In a corner behind the desk is a doorway which leads into a bathroom containing a sonic shower. Below a mirror is a sink that has no visible controls; the water comes on automatically when hands are placed beneath the faucet, and goes off when they are withdrawn. |
