	Main Bridge		Primary operational control of a Galaxy-class starship is provided by the main bridge, located on Deck 1 of the primary hull (commonly referred to as the saucer section). The main bridge directly supervises all primary mission operations (with the exception of the shuttlebays and assorted craft) and coordinates all departmental activities. As with most starships, the main bridge is an ejectable module and can be completely replaced with another bridge if the need calls for it. Different Galaxy-class starships have different bridge designs.
	Observation Lounge		The observation lounge or conference lounge is a special designation referring to the briefing room on Galaxy, Sovereign, and Legacy-class starships. The room is used as a meeting place for the ship's senior staff as well as special events and gatherings. Some go to the observation lounge simply for the view. The room is elongated and spans the entire area aft of the bridge on Deck 1. There are a series of seven viewports, composed of transparent aluminum spanning from close to the floor to up along the angled ceiling, which face the rear of the ship.
	Captain's Ready Room		Doubling as an office and a second private cabin in addition to the commanding officer's private quarters, the Captain's Ready room is a place where the captain can work or rest while remaining next to the bridge in case of an emergency.
	Main Shuttlebay		The primary arrival and departure point for auxiliary craft aboard the Magellan, the main shuttlebay can be a busy place.
	Cargo Bay		A cargo bay or cargo hold is a general purpose storage facility aboard shuttles, starships and starbases.
	Transporter Room		A transporter room is part of an starship or space station which is specially outfitted to transport lifeforms and small inanimate objects.
	Departmental Offices		Here, the department head can engage in work with all relevant office equipment at hand without interfering with bridge operations. In addition, this room is usually the preferred place where the department head can hold private discussions.
	Holodeck		A Holographic Environment Simulator, or holodeck for short, is a form of holotechnology designed and used by Starfleet. They are installed aboard starships, space stations, and at Starfleet institutions for entertainment, training, and investigative purposes.
	Captain's & Executive Officer's Quarters		The term quarters refers to accommodations on board spacecraft and space stations. Quarters can be found all over mobile and stationary facilities, varying in size and detail. An individual room was called a cabin. Usually, the accommodations of the ship's commanding officer and executive officer are slightly larger than the standard officers' quarters.

An individual room was called a cabin. Many starships featured separate quarters for higher-ranked officers. Usually, these staterooms were composed of two or more areas, featuring separate bed and bathrooms and a dedicated work and living area.
	Crew Quarters		The term quarters refers to accommodations on board spacecraft and space stations. Quarters can be found all over mobile and stationary facilities, varying in size and detail. An individual room was called a cabin. On starships of the Galaxy-class, crewmembers ranked lieutenant junior grade or higher were given their own quarters while personnel up to the rank of ensign were required to share quarters.
	VIP & Guest Quarters		The term quarters refers to accommodations on board spacecraft and space stations. Quarters can be found all over mobile and stationary facilities, varying in size and detail. An individual room was called a cabin. A living space assigned to a temporary resident of a space station or spacecraft. Each starship typically features a number of VIP staterooms, reserved for guests.
	Mess Hall		A mess hall is a place on Federation starships or starbases where one can relax and enjoy a meal or a quick snack in a social setting. It is also the place where officials, such as ambassadors of other worlds are entertained. Gatherings are also held here.
	Oscar's Place (Ten Forward)		Oscar's Place is a lounge and recreation facility located on deck ten. It has much the same function as a mess hall and can also be used for official functions such as receptions and dinners.
	Auxiliary (Battle) Bridge		The battle bridge is an auxiliary control center located on Federation starships that acted as a supplemental control center to the bridge and main engineering. If necessary, a starship could be controlled from this room alone.
	Brig		A brig is a type of prison on board a starship. These are heavily-guarded rooms that employ either gates or force fields to keep those incarcerated segregated from the general population of the vessel. These areas are used to contain criminals, fugitives, and others who pose a security risk and must be detained. They are also used as a means of punishment within the Starfleet ranks.
	Science Laboratories		A science laboratory (for short, lab or science lab) is any area set-up for work in experimental or observational science. Areas like these are commonplace aboard exploration vessels such as Federation starships.
	Astrometrics Lab		Astrometrics was a specialized lab used aboard Federation starships for stellar cartographic purposes. Astrometrics was used for charting stars, planets, nebulae, and other stellar bodies. It contained a large wraparound wall screen which could display a stellar region three dimensionally. There were a series of control panels to manipulate the screen. The area below the screen and in front of the control panels could be used as a stage during presentations. Astrometrics also included three workstations on the side wall.
	Chief Medical Officer's Office		The Chief Medical Officer's office is located adjacent to the main sickbay ward, providing medical staff with all the benefits of a private office while still allowing them to keep a close eye on their patients at all times.
	Main Sickbay		The primary of the Galaxy-class starship's three sickbays, Main Sickbay is also the larger of the three, and located on deck twelve. Housing the Chief Medical Officer's office, it is also near to the Chief Counsellor's office.
	Auxiliary Sickbays		Auxiliary sickbays serve to support operations of the primary facilities on deck twelve.
	Chief Counselor's Office		The Chief Counselor's office is located on deck fourteen, providing counseling staff with all the benefits of a private office while still allowing them to drop in on their patients or assist with matters in sickbay at all times.
	Auxiliary Shuttlebays 2 & 3		The secondary arrival and departure points for auxiliary craft aboard the Magellan, shuttlebays two and three can still be busy places.
	Main Engineering		The heart of the ship, Engineering is one of two most important locations onboard.
