Experimental Technology: Subspace Aperture Transport System (SATS)

The Subspace Aperture Transport System (SATS) is an experimental transporter technology under development by the Federation. Little is known about how the device operates other than that it relies on artificially-created wormholes rather than traditional matter conversion to transport personnel and objects over various distances.

By 2391, a rudimentary version of the device had been installed aboard the Galaxy-class Mark III USS Magellan for field-testing. This device is located in a secure compartment on deck eleven. Concerned for the security of both this technology as well as the Magellan's crew, Captain Anthony Watson has ordered that two security personnel are posted outside the compartment at all times.
